From its inception, Hope has taken seriously our Lord's command to care for the under-resourced among us. To that end, we have implemented a rich variety of successful local initiatives that have become part of our DNA. These programs foster relationships between people from two very different backgrounds and lifestyles. They make friends out of strangers and heal the wounds of our past.
GIVE THANKS! GIVE LOVE! Hope Local Outreach (formerly the Urban Ministry) will bless our neighbors in North Memphis with a hot Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, November 20, at the Bickford Community Center, home of Hope City Church and our partner Oasis of Hope. Hams and chickens will also be provided to the seniors of Hope City and Oasis of Hope.
We will not be collecting food donations this year; however, you can partner with us through your generosity or by serving at our Thanksgiving dinner. If you’re interested in helping us bless our community through serving, CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP.

The Local Outreach Tree of Hope, is an opportunity to help provide a special and enjoyable Christmas for hundreds of less fortunate families across Memphis. When you sponsor a family, you bless others with hope and love.
For continued safety during the ongoing pandemic, there will be no home deliveries this year. Your gifts will be given to our ministry partners for delivery. You will have the opportunity to speak you’re your adopted family to introduce yourself, get to know them and ask any questions you may have. You can sponsor a family from our tree in the Main Lobby in between weekend worship hours from November 6-December 4.
Please pray for the families on our Tree of Hope, that they may be blessed this holiday season.
For more than 25 years, the Local Ministry of Hope Church has offered life-changing experiences through the Urban Plunge and Justice Tour of Civil Rights Movement. These events have been instrumental to getting individuals engaged by serving others through discipleship and giving. The Local Outreach Ministry serves over 1,000 families annually through Thanksgiving Food Drives, Back-to-School Drive and sponsoring families during Christmas with the Tree of Hope.
Our ministry has been avid about serving hundreds of children annually in the under resourced areas of Memphis with Resurrection activities and hosting Vacation Bible School sessions during the summer at various churches in South Memphis, Frayser and other areas of the city. To get involved, take a look at some of our volunteer opportunities below.
