Boiling Ice We were boiling ice one weekend. Every once in a while we have a weird weekend here at Hope. This one started one Friday. They were digging to make a new parking lot by the gym and they hit a sewer line (not too big of a deal) then below that, they hit a water main (lots of water pressure), a big deal. Hands up, It's snowing! Every time the weather gets pretty, like today, I think of snow days. It's weird, I know. One snow day at Hope I was kicking ice off the walkway and pushing snow off of cars and handrails and throwing cones against the curb trying to bust the stacks apart. “Pork and Pearls” In 2008 we had "Mack's French Laundry hoity-toity super fancy dinner" to raise money for our special needs class in preschool, 50 people having dinner, 14 courses, 28 people in the kitchen. It's a strange experience for people who come to an event like this for the first time, they think they are mostly making a donation to the church and having a pretty good dinner for an hour or so. Chillers.. anyone? anyone? One of the things that's different about the sanctuary is that it is cooled by a chiller instead of a normal air conditioner. In 2007 these chillers were the newest and most efficient you could buy. And they were set up in the newest most efficient way.
