Frequently asked questions
Is there a cost?
No. However, you do need to register ahead of time
Do I have to be engaged?
This workshop is a great time investment for a committed couple that is moving toward marriage.
Do I have to be affiliated with Hope Church to attend?
No. One of the ways we are called to serve our community is by offering programs to strengthen families. However, most of the concepts covered in the workshop are best achieved within the support network of a community of peers and mentors. Hope offers several classes, groups and events designed for just this purpose.
What can I hope to happen there?
The workshop is interactive, but is not group counseling. We will present material in a conversational way designed for feedback and input to best address the needs of the couples present. We will laugh, learn and gain perspective on what a Biblical foundation to marriage looks like. Topics addressed are willingness, forgiveness, establishing and maintaining trust, effective communication, finances and conflict resolution.
Can I get a discount on my marriage license by attending this workshop?
Depends! Four hours of premarital counseling is required to receive a certificate making you eligible for a discount on your marriage license. The Pre-marital workshop counts for 3 of the hours. Information on options regarding the 4th hour as well as next steps in the marriage process will be covered at the workshop.

Is this seminar for same-gender couples?
Hope Church does not officiate same-sex marriages (Genesis 1:27-28, 2:21-25; Matthew 19:4-6) or provide premarital counseling for same-sex couples. However, persons of all races, denominations, generations and sexual orientation are invited and welcomed to enjoy fellowship and worship with our Hope Church Family and all share in the good news of Jesus Christ (John 1:17, 3:16-17).
