Urban Administrative assistant
& special events Coordinator

(Non-exempt hourly position, 40 hours per week)

This position will be an essential part of the Urban Department at Hope Church with the overall responsibility to assist the Urban Ministry Director in administrative support and the planning of ministry activities and events.  Willingness to develop and nurture a passion for Urban Ministry and the Core Values of Hope Church.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage internal budget, collect fees, receipt monies and financial record keeping. 
  • Schedule and organize complex activities such as meetings, travel, conferences and department events, e.g., Justice Tour, Urban Plunge.
  • Respond to all calls, emails and assemble highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Establish and maintain a system to track and update volunteers using internal database.
  • Assist with promoting Urban events and opportunities using internal/external marketing tools including social media. 
  • Recruit, train and mobilize Hope members/attendees for various Urban events and community activities.
  • Coordinate special ongoing and reoccurring projects to include, e.g., VBS, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Tree of Hope, Back to School Projects. 
  • Available to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passionate, growing, personal relationship with Him.

Other duties and resPonsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings, events and networking opportunities for Urban ministry.
  • Commute and participate in all Urban projects/activities including orienting volunteers on responsibilities.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing new ministry related programs and initiatives. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Experience in Event Planning and Volunteer Management preferred
  • Some College preferred

  • Self-starter with servant heart and passion for Urban Ministry
  • Exceptionally strong leadership skills
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player
  • Strong relational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload.
  • Must be flexible, attention to detail and time management.  
  • Ability to work with people of various socio-economic and diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
